Iolanthe

The National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company present Iolanthe, a sparkling satire blending politics and fairy tale magic, directed by John Savournin.
With its enchanting score and witty libretto, this classic operetta promises an evening of laughter and delight. Join us for a spellbinding production filled with fairies, peers, and enduring charm.

Iolanthe is a much-loved operetta blending fantasy and satire. It follows Strephon, a half-mortal shepherd, whose fairy mother, Iolanthe, was banished for marrying a mortal. Fairies clash with bumbling peers of the British Parliament as love, law, and politics intertwine. Don’t miss this theatrical gem, perfect for audiences of all ages!

2

Princess Ida

In 2009, the Festival presented Princess Ida. This marvellous production, directed by Jeff Clarke, was nothing short of spectacular and has gone down in Festival history as one of the finest (if not the finest) productions we have ever staged.

With its striking black-and-white costumes set against a dramatic backdrop, it offered truly outstanding entertainment. Princess Ida is brimming with wit, satire, and enchanting melodies.

We are delighted that this fantastic productions is being revived for our 2025 season.

The Pirates of Penzance is filled with witty dialogue, catchy melodies, and whimsical characters. It tells the tale of Frederic, a young pirate apprentice, and his adventures with a band of tender-hearted pirates, a spirited heroine, and an eccentric Major-General. This much-loved favourite offers humour, romance, and dazzling musical entertainment.
