A World of Flavour

A Taste of Egypt

While Egypt is renowned for its magnificent temples, bustling markets and the timeless beauty of the Nile, it is also home to one of the Middle East’s most comforting and satisfying dishes. Koshari is often regarded as Egypt’s national dish and is enjoyed everywhere, from family kitchens to lively street cafés. At first glance, its combination of rice, pasta, lentils and chickpeas may seem unusual, but together they create a wonderfully hearty meal. Finished with a richly spiced tomato sauce and a generous scattering of crispy fried onions, Koshari is simple, wholesome and packed with flavour. Originally created as an inexpensive meal using everyday ingredients, Koshari has become a beloved part of Egyptian life. It is filling, affordable and delicious, making it a favourite with locals and visitors alike. After a day exploring ancient temples or sailing along the Nile, there’s nothing quite like sitting down to a generous bowl of this Egyptian classic.
