Essential information

The practical things to check before any Theatrical Adventure — passports, visas, health, insurance and what to do if you need us while you are away.

Passports

You are responsible for holding a valid passport and any visas for every country your cruise visits (Booking Conditions F.1). Many countries require your passport to be valid for at least six months beyond the end of your trip, and some require it to have been issued within the last ten years. The name on your booking must match your passport exactly — please check your Booking Confirmation Invoice as soon as you receive it.

Visas and entry requirements

Entry rules change. Check the current requirements for each country on your itinerary at gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice well before you travel, and tell us if you hold a passport from a country other than the United Kingdom so we can point you to the right guidance. Where a visa is needed on arrival (for example in Egypt) we will tell you what to bring.

Foreign Office advice

We follow the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s travel advice. If the FCDO advises against travel to a destination on your cruise, we will contact you with the options. Please read the advice for your destinations before you travel.

Health

Check with your GP or a travel clinic whether any vaccinations or health precautions are recommended for your destinations, in good time before departure. Bring enough of any regular medication for the whole trip, in its original packaging, with a copy of your prescription. Tell us about any medical condition, allergy or dietary need on your guest forms so that we and the ship can look after you.

Travel insurance

Travel insurance is a condition of booking. See theatricaladventures.com/financial-protection for what your policy should cover and how your money is protected with us.

Mobility

River ships, coaches and historic towns are not always easy to get around. We are unable to provide staff assistance with wheelchairs or personal care, so if you need that support you must travel with a companion who can provide it (Booking Conditions G). Tell us about any mobility needs when you book and we will do our best to make reasonable adjustments to excursions.

Money

Most of our cruises are in euro countries; Egypt uses the Egyptian pound. Cards are widely accepted on board and ashore, and a small amount of local cash is useful for markets and tips. Tell your bank that you are travelling.

While you are away

Emergency contact while you are travelling: 01422 323 252 (Theatrical Adventures office; our Cruise Directors travel with every cruise). Our Cruise Directors are on board throughout your holiday and are the first people to speak to about anything at all.

If something goes wrong

If something goes wrong during your holiday, tell our Cruise Directors or the office straight away so we can put it right. If you wish to complain afterwards, write to us at bookings@theatricaladventures.com or The Old Vicarage, All Souls Road, Halifax, HX3 6DR within 28 days of your return; we acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and aim to reply in full within 28 days.

More questions

Dress code, what to pack, singing, cabins and transfers are all covered in our FAQs at theatricaladventures.com/faqs — and you can always call us.
